Getty Images appoints Time Inc.'s Andrew Blau to the key role of SVP Consumer Revenue

NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Getty Images, the world leader in visual communications, today announced the appointment of Andrew Blau to the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Consumer Revenue.

The appointment marks another step in support of the company's strategy to extend its core B2B licensing business and establish new opportunities within the consumer market.

"Over the past year we have been laying the foundation necessary to move into the next phase of Getty Images' consumer journey," said Dawn Airey, CEO of Getty Images. "I am thrilled to welcome Andy, who's proven track record in emerging media and advertising sales, in addition to significant finance and operations management experience, will be an invaluable addition to our leadership team as we navigate this new space and draw closer to realizing our vision of Getty Images everywhere."

Based in New York and reporting to Getty Images CEO Dawn Airey, Blau will have a seat on the Executive Committee. He will oversee the business' revenue operations, working closely with the Senior Vice President of Data &Insights and Managing Editor to drive Getty Images' Business to Everyone strategy.

Blau joins from Time Inc. where he has had a diverse career spanning more than 25 years, most recently serving as the Chief Business Officer, responsible for Time Inc.'s advertising business finance and operations.  Prior to this, he held SVP positions across Corporate Sales and Marketing, Brand and Divisional Finance, as well as the SVP and General Manager of News and Sports and Time Inc. Interactive.

Blau also spent time at Imij Partners LLC as President and CEO, where he developed a comprehensive business plan for the media startup, PhotoSalon, an eCommerce site selling fine photography to consumers.

Blau, SVP of Consumer Revenue said, "I'm excited to be joining Getty Images at such a pivotal time in the company's story. With its deep roots in creating engaging content, coupled with its fast growing consumer experience and extensive data analytics, Getty Images is well positioned to provide brands with unique digital opportunities. I look forward to harnessing this potential and contributing to the company's strategy for growth."

Blau's appointment follows a series of recent appointments to Getty Images' Executive Committee as the company drives forward its strategy for growth. In 2016 Getty Images announced a new Innovation Group spearheaded by Steve Heck, announced Andrew Hamilton as the SVP of Data & Insights, with Steve Grimes announced as the company's new Managing Editor & SVP of Consumer Media, joining Getty Images. In addition, Getty Images also appointed Lia Buffa de Feo to the new role of Vice President and General Manager, for the company's print business.
