WePay Doubles Down on Apple Pay, Android Pay Mobile Revenue Drivers

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WePay, the leading provider of integrated payments for online platforms including Constant Contact, GoFundMe, and Zoho, today announced that its customers can now use Apple Pay on the Web and Google's Android Pay on the Web to generate dramatically more revenue on their sites.

These newly integrated payment methods address the single biggest challenge affecting mobile conversion today: poor web experiences that have consistently made it difficult to check out online.

When customers are forced to enter tedious payment and shipping information on their small screens, conversion rates plummet. In fact, mobile commerce sales now represent nearly 30% of all US ecommerce and are continuing to grow fast, yet checkout conversion rates on the mobile web are just one-third of desktop rates according to Adobe Digital Insights. In other words, the vast majority of these mobile web transactions are abandoned, causing businesses to lose money each and every day.

WePay's launch of the Apple Pay and Android Pay products means platform customers can now pay for goods and services with just a single touch — gone are the days of having to manually enter payment and shipping informationat checkout.

"Streamlining the mobile checkout experience is a huge opportunity as more and more people use their mobile devices for anything and everything, including their commerce," said Bill Clerico, CEO of WePay. "Removing the friction that exists today makes paying on mobile devices easier, delivering real value to our platform partners and the people that use them."

Customers can choose to pay with Apple Pay using the Safari browser on their supported iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. Those who opt for Android Pay can pay using the Chrome browser on their supported Android device.

Android Pay on Chrome is built on top of PaymentRequest, a new industry standard API meant to eliminate checkout forms. PaymentRequest also supports other payment types including credit cards stored on the browser, making purchases on websites easier and faster for all Android users. Customers can simply select their preferred payment method, confirm their shipping information, and pay. PaymentRequest is available on Chrome 53+ on Android mobile devices.

"Integrating Android Pay and Payment Request API with WePay makes it easier for even more businesses of all sizes to offer their customers a simple, faster mobile web payment experience that drives conversions," said Spencer Spinnell, Director of Business Development at Google.

Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Payment Request API are available to current and new WePay platform partners.

This latest announcement comes less than a year after WePay first began to push to support more mobile commerce with the unveiling of a complete white-label mobile point of sale (mPOS) solution for platforms and their users to handle in-person commerce.
