10 Ways to Increase Conversions on Your Site

August 03, 2017

Let’s be real: as fun and challenging as marketing can be, the best strategy in the world doesn’t matter if it doesn’t result in conversions. Revenue is what keeps nearly all businesses afloat, so a lack of paying customers can spell danger for your organization.

If your conversion rates are lower than you’d like them to be, consider these strategies to give them a boost.

1. Promote Your Content

A strong content marketing strategy is one of the go-to ways to increase conversions on a website. To reel in leads, however, you’ll need to make that content widely accessible.

Over 81 percent of marketers saw an increase in Web traffic with as little as six hours per week devoted to social media marketing. Consider sharing your blog and website on your social media profiles and ask leaders in your industry to share them to expand your reach and attract more leads.

2. Optimize Your Content for Search

Along with just putting your content out there, you’ll need to make sure people can find it in order to increase conversions. Using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can help move your website higher up on the page when people search for a certain keyword, making it more likely that they’ll visit your site – and, possibly, become a conversion.

In fact, 87 percent of marketers use SEO rankings as a part of their KPIs. To jump on board, optimize your website by including keywords in your URL, titles, and headings.

3. Include a Call to Action (CTA)

Once you’ve attracted visitors to your website, the best way to increase your conversions is by providing users with an obvious next step to get more involved. Whether it’s including a contact form at the bottom of the page or displaying an easy way to connect with a company representative (like Credit Repair’s CTA-oriented landing page), making it clear that visitors can get in touch with you is one of the best ways to improve your conversion rate.

For instance, videos with a clear CTA got 380 percent more clicks than those without it. Just providing visitors with a next step might be all you need to get those valuable conversions.

4. Don’t Forget Email

In the age of social media, it’s easy to ignore the value of email in increasing conversions on your site. However, customer acquisition via email quadrupled between 2009 and 2013, meaning this mode of communication hasn’t gone out of fashion just yet.

To get people to convert via email, you’ll want to send regular newsletters, content, and perks to your audience’s inboxes. By including clear ways to purchase from or otherwise get involved with your organization, you increase the likelihood that someone will take you up on your offer.

5. Figure Out Your Target Audience

Figuring out different target demographics for your organization is a great way to increase conversions. Sixty-seven percent of marketers, in fact, consider audience identification and targeting a high priority.

To master this, think about what different types of people – categorized by age, geographic location, socioeconomic status, or another identifier – would be looking for when investigating your website. If you target those people’s needs specifically, they’re more likely to engage with your organization.

6. Target Everything

Approximately 40.5 percent of respondents would rather see targeted ads than general ones, meaning that targeting your marketing towards your target audiences is likely to garner you results. By creating advertising that directly touches upon the needs and desires of specific groups of people, you’ll be able to draw them in, dazzle them with your website, and increase the likelihood that they’ll engage with you in some way.

7. Keep Up with the Trends

As the business landscape continually changes, you’ll need to keep up with emerging technologies and trends to maintain conversion rates on your site. For example, 80 percent of people would rather watch live video from a brand than read a blog post, as this method of communication is growing increasingly popular. To draw in visitors and convert them, staying on top of what’s pulling in users will get you far.

8. Communicate Often

One of the easiest ways to increase conversions is by engaging directly with your customers. Many people use social media to contact retailers, and 71 percent of consumers who’ve had a good social media experience with a brand are likely to recommend it to others. In other words, initiating conversations with your audiences – much like Azazie does with its Instagram roundups – can help spread your reputation and attract new visitors to your website.

9. Focus on Multiple Platforms

To leverage the huge number of users on popular social media platforms – Facebook, for instance, has 2 billion users per month – you should spread your messaging far and wide. By optimizing your content for different platforms (short bursts for Twitter and silent videos for Instagram, for example), you’re more likely to engage potential customers and eventual conversions.

10. Consider Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This strategy might not be popular with everyone, but the reality is that AI has great potential to enhance people’s engagement with brands. From realistic live chat bots to automated messaging, AI can accelerate sales by allowing companies to interact with clients more frequently.

And the best part is, customers are already used to it; they’re expected to manage 85 percent of their relationship with businesses solely through AI technology by 2020.

No matter what your industry is, increasing conversions on your website is key to success and longevity.

What other ways have you found that boost your conversion rates?
