IKEA Canada Announces Five Collection Points in Atlantic Canada
Launches in St. John's, Charlottetown, Fredericton, New Glasgow and Sydney will make shopping at IKEA more accessible, convenient and affordable for local residents
BURLINGTON, ON, March 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Shopping at IKEA is now more convenient for customers in Atlantic Canada, with the launch of five new Collection Points, in St. John's, Charlottetown, Fredericton, New Glasgow and Sydney.
Customers can now shop online at www.IKEA.ca for IKEA home furnishings and have them delivered to the Charlottetown, Fredericton, New Glasgow or Sydney Collection Points for $59. The delivery fee is $79 for the St. John's Collection Point. Both fees represent a significant savings over the average home delivery fee of approximately $155 and the flat rates will remain the same regardless of the size or value of a customer's purchase. Home delivery is still available for customers who would still like to have their products delivered directly to their home.
"Our ambition is to become more accessible to as many Canadians as possible," said Liz Wilson, Vice President, IKEA Canada. "The launch of these five Collection Points is a great way to immeditely provide our customers in Atlantic Canada with a more convenient shopping experience."
The Collection Points are not IKEA stores and are owned by third party service provider Sameday Worldwide. While they don't have any products available for purchase, Collection Points allow IKEA to make shopping easier for these markets.
"In such a large country, it is important to offer a variety of solutions we can use to make shopping easier for Canadians," said Wilson. "These five locations are natural next steps in our plan to grow the IKEA brand in Canada."
It is IKEA's aim to make the brand more accessible and convenient for the many Canadians, through increased service offerings like Collection Points, Pick-up and order points, improvements in eCommerce and customer-focused distribution. IKEA hopes to provide its customers with one consistent IKEA experience in every touchpoint.
In 2015, IKEA Canada announced an ambitious plan to double in size by 2025. To achieve this goal, the retailer will open new stores in new locations and also introduce some new formats over the next 10 years. The first new store on this expansion journey will be IKEA Halifax, set to open in Fall 2017. IKEA Canada also recently launched Collection Points in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John and Saskatoon.
